God saved us, by becoming one of us, entering into our human, and sometimes messy history. Jesus will come to each of us this Advent in and through our human journey.
Lord, hear our voices raised in prayer. Let the light of the coming of your Son free us from the darkness of sin.May we, your people, who look forward to the birthday of Christ experience the joy of salvation and celebrate that feast with love and thanksgiving.
WE PRAY TO YOU, OH LORD. (OR) COME, LORD JESUS!
Prepare our hearts and remove the sadness that hinders us from feeling the joy and hope which his coming will bring. We remember those who have lost loved ones, especially Pastor Chuck, whose daughter Ingrid died this past week. Comfort them with your Holy Spirit and the promise of eternal life. At this time we remember your people as we speak out loud the names of those in need....
WE PRAY TO YOU, OH LORD. (OR) COME, LORD JESUS!
Come to create a new earth for us,
- where there will be justice and peace.
Prepare a path in our hearts for the coming of your Word,
- and let his glory be revealed among us.
Break down the wall of hatred that divides the nations,
-and make level for mankind the paths to peace.
Keep us in the love of your Spirit,
- that we may know the mercy of your Son who is to come.
